In the spirit of belonging and generosity we are so proud of our students' Walk for Cancer in honor of Terry Fox on Friday.  Our school community raised over $400 towards cancer research!

Meet the Teacher Tuesday, Sept. 17 6:00pm

On Tuesday night we invite you to join us at Alternative High for Meet the Teacher. We will start in a circle in the gym, then do a short timetable rotation so you can meet each teacher in your child's day and learn more about what they are learning, how to communicate and conditions for success.

Meet the Teacher is NOT Parent Teacher Student conferences.  There will not be opportunity for individual conversations about students.  PTS conferences are Oct. 24.

School Council/Parent Association meeting Tuesday, Sept. 17 7:00pm

Please consider joining us for our School Council and Parent Society meeting at 7:00pm. We will need several key positions filled this year, especially on our Parent Society (fundraising) society.  There are only 6 meetings a year, and this is a great way to be connected to your child's learning.

This meeting will be held in person at the school, but you also may join us virtually using this link

Please find attached the School Council and Parent Association newsletters.  You can also find more information and the link to the meeting on our website

Emergency Response Planning

Each school is responsible to prepare an emergency response plan, as well as to practice fire and lockdown drills each school year.

Mentors and teachers will work with students to prepare them for these drills, particularly those students who might need a bit more support.

Student Drop Off and Pickup - Please be considerate of our neighbours

Unfortunately, we have had complaints from our neighbours about u-turns and people exiting our parking lot going backwards and/or at high speeds. In one case this has resulted in damage to a neighbouring car.

We have a kiss and drop lane in front of the school to facilitate a safe dropoff. Please do not enter the parking lot to drop off or pick up your child before and after school. If you must enter the parking lot (for example if a student is using a wheelchair, or has equipment such as a guitar), please drive around to the back of the school to drop-off, and be aware of students, pedestrians and other vehicles when exiting our parking lot.

It is important that we maintain positive relationship with our neighbours around the school, and maintain a safe environment in our parking lot.  Please be respectful.
