Apologies for the late update this week. The beautiful day, gardening and family were a distraction! Hopefully your family enjoyed this beautiful weekend as much as ours did!
We have only approximately 10 instructional days left in the semester. Every day counts!
Graduation on Friday, May 29
We are so excited to celebrate our graduating students on Friday, May 29. The ceremony will be on Friday morning at 9:00am at Central Memorial High School Theatre. All student members of our community are invited to attend. Students can meet at Alternative High School by 8:45 and Alti staff will walk with them over to Central. We anticipate being done no later than 11:30am at which time all non-graduating students will be dismissed. The school will be closed as all staff will be at the Glenmore Inn.
Parking and Access to the Ceremony
Families and guests of graduating students are welcome to park at Alternative High School and walk over, or there will be limited reserved parking behind Central Memorial. There are two entrances guests can use to get to the theatre. Guests who required a ramp or who may have difficulty with stairs can use the southwest entrance. The ceremony will begin with the processional at 9:15am.
The graduation banquet will start at 12:15pm at the Glenmore Inn. All guests including the graduate must have a ticket to attend.
Graduation is a formal event and a school event. Students are expected to adhere to the Student Code of Conduct when on school property as well as at the Glenmore Inn.
Stand Up Grad Meeting Monday at 12:00pm
We will have a quick meeting for all grads at lunch on Monday. This will be a last chance to ask questions and confirm expectations. Grads who are no longer on campus can join the meeting remotely using this link to Microsoft Teams. Please reach out to your mentor if you have questions and can't make the meeting.
Theatre Calgary Community Day, Wednesday, June 3
We are currently planning a school off-site activity to Theatre Calgary to watch “Come From Away”. This field trip will occur on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 10:15am to 2:15pm. The students will be transported to and from the event by chartered bus. The bus will leave Alternative High School at 10:15am. Lunch is not provided on this trip and there may not be time to purchase a lunch, so please make sure that your child brings a lunch on that day.
The Parent Letter and Acknowledgement of Risk will come home this week, or you can download below. Please sign and return the Acknowledgement of Risk by Thursday, May 28 so we can confirm numbers. Participation in Community Days is generally not optional. There is no fee for this trip as it is sponsored by our generous Parent Association. Students who commit to attending by returning paperwork and who subsequently do not attend may be charged a fee to cover non-refundable ticket costs.
