Hopefully your family enjoyed a restful and fun week.  Classes start Monday, March 30 @ 8:55am.  We have a 4 day week this week as Friday is a non-instructional day to observe Good Friday. There are 47 instructional days left in Semester 2. Summer will be here before we know it!

Thank you to all the parents/guardians who attended Parent Teacher conferences on Friday, March 20.  We welcome the opportunity to discuss student progress and achievement with parents.  You will not be able to see marks in PowerSchool as teachers are working on grades and comments for the end of Term 3, April 8.  Please reach out to your mentor if you have questions.

In the spirit of Mastery, well done to all the graduates who prepared speeches to be considered for Valedictorian and Emcee.  It takes courage to speak in front of peers.  Congratulations to Ilona who was chosen by peers to be the Class of 2026 Valedictorian.

Completion Day #2 Thursday April 2

In the spirit of Mastery, our second completion day will be on Thursday. Attendance is expected on this day for most students.

High school courses are designed so that learning happens over time and with many opportunities for feedback for students so they can work towards mastery in the outcomes in the programs of study.  Each set of skills and knowledge builds on what has happened before.  For that reason, and to avoid the anxiety associated with missing work, we offer completion days to allow students to ensure they are up to date in their learning.

Students will use completion day to close gaps in their learning, including handing in incomplete work, working alongside teachers to supplement learning and/or enriching their learning.  The regular Thursday schedule will apply for those students who need to access their teachers.  Otherwise, they should remain in their mentor classroom.  Students who have CT Centre or Central Memorial classes are still expected to attend those classes.

Students will be given a completion day planner by their mentors on Monday.  They will need to review their PowerSchool grades and feedback, and work with their teachers and mentor to determine priorities for the day.  Any students taking CALM online with Phil or Kate will be required to attend unless they have completed all of their assignments in CALM as this class is ending April 8. Once completion day has passed, any work that was due prior to that day will be suspended in order for students to focus on current learning going forward.

Grad checks will be done every two weeks starting this week, so our graduating students in particular want make good use of completion day.

Term 3 Ends April 8

Any students who are in 3 credit/Term 3 courses will need to complete their work by this Thursday, April 2. Marks for these courses are due by April 8. Term 4 classes are visible in PowerSchool. These courses include Physical Education, CALM, and Forensics.
