Greetings Alti Families

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this long weekend and had time to connect with family and friends. We have a busy week coming up!

Celebrate

In the spirit of Mastery, we are so pleased with the number of students who worked hard on catch-up day to advance their learning and complete unfinished work.

Congratulations to those students who achieved 80% or better attendance in September!  These students should have received a certificate in mentor on Friday.  While we recognize that there are legitimate reasons for students to miss school, being connected to friends, staff and learning is an important part of student wellness as well as achieving high school graduation.

Field Trips

In the spirit of Belonging, our first community building day is Thursday, Oct. 12 at Cobb's Adventure Park.  Students should have returned signed paperwork to their mentor by Friday, Oct. 6.  Please make sure to send it tomorrow if your child is attending.  Participation in these days is a really important part of how we build community at Alternative and it is expected that all students will attend. Please communicate with your child's mentor if they will miss the day.

In the spirit of Mastery, our ELA 20/30 classes are attending Wordfest on Wednesday morning.  They will hear author MIchelle Goode speak about her book, "Five Little Indians" and have an opportunity to ask questions.  This paperwork also should have been returned by Friday.  Please communicate with your child's English teacher if you have not returned this paperwork but want your child to attend.

Parent Teacher Student Conferences (online in Microsoft Teams)

PT Conferences will be held on October 19 from 4:30 - 8:00.  They will be virtual.  You can sign up in MyConference to meet with your child's teachers and/or mentor starting Thursday, Oct. 12 at 6:00pm..  Access to sign up is through the PowerSchool Portal.  You will need to have access to PowerSchool.  Instructions and help are available from links on the PowerSchool Portal link.

Get Involved

Our Parent Association will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 17 both at school and online.  The support of parents is critical to student learning and success at Alternative High School.  The AGM will be in November, and we will be looking to fill some key positions.  Please consider giving some of your time to the Parent Association.  More information can be found on our website.

Have a great week!
