We are looking forward to our first day with students tomorrow!

A few things to remember:

Student Timetables, Forms and Communication

Timetables were available on Friday at 12:00pm in PowerSchool.  CBE does not maintain or support the PowerSchool App that many students use, so if you can't see your timetable on the app, please login on a web browser to check before reaching out to your mentor. We have had to make some adjustments because of staffing and Summer school results.  As well, sometimes there is a delay when students are registered before they can see PowerSchool. DON'T WORRY! Students will begin their day with their mentor who can make sure they know where they are going.

Please use our website for information about the bell schedule and calendar.  We strive to keep it up to date. https://alternative.cbe.ab.ca/

Parents will need to update their information in PowerSchool.  This will include demographic information and consent forms.  If you have not created an account for PowerSchool, you can find out how here: https://support.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe . Parents will receive a message this week asking them to complete their demographic verification and permission forms online.  These forms are required by Alberta Education for compliance.  Please go online and complete them at your earliest convenience.  Reach out to your mentor or Jodi (in the office) if you have questions.

Parents please also subscribe to school emails as this weekly message is our primary form of communication.

Reminder: Cell phone policy

For students in grades 10-12, personal mobile devices are not allowed during class time, unless a teacher allows it for a specific learning task. Personal mobile devices must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. This year we have provided cell phone lockers in classrooms for phones and students will be expected to put their phones in those lock boxes while in class.

We also respectfully request that parents support their teens in making good choices by refraining from communicating during class times.  Lunch at Alti is from 12:00pm - 12:30pm.  Alternately, if a parent really needs to contact a student, they can call the office and we will go let the student know.

More information about the Ministerial Order and the CBE Student Device Policy can be found on our website. If you have questions or believe that your child needs an exemption for this policy for medical reasons, please reach out to Principal Tracy, tadalton@cbe.ab.ca.

Leaving Campus

In high school students have more autonomy than they did in junior high/middle school.  Students may choose to leave campus at lunch. However, they are responsible to be back at school and on time for their afternoon classes. There is nothing close by for food or snacks, so please make sure teen packs a healthy snack and a reusable cup for school.  We will have a pizza lunch on Monday, but students are generally on their own for lunch and snacks.

It's going to be a great year!

See you Monday!
