Thank you to Autumn Whiteway for teaching us about Winter Counts on Friday afternoon.  In the spirit of Belonging we valued deepending our understanding of how we are all connected to each other and nature. Our students demonstrated Generosity and Mastery in their engagement and attention.

Meet the Teacher Tuesday, Sept. 15 @ 6:00pm

Next Tuesday, September 15 @ 6:00pm, we invite you to Alternative High School for an opportunity to meet your child's teachers.  We will start in a circle in the gym, then do a short timetable rotation so you can meet each teacher in your child's day and learn more about what they are learning, how to communicate and conditions for success.  

Meet the Teacher is NOT Parent Teacher Student conferences.  There will not be opportunity for individual conversations about students.  PTS conferences are Oct. 19. 

School Council / Parent Society meeting Tuesday, Sept. 15 @ 7:00 at school or online

Please consider joining us for our School Council and Parent Association meeting at 7:00pm. We will need several key positions filled this year, as many of our current parents' students have graduated.   There are only 6 meetings a year, and this is a great way to be connected to your child's learning. We rely on the Parent Association for funding so we don't have to charge activity fees. 

Please join us in person after Meet the Teacher, or online on Microsoft Teams. 

Terry Fox Run Friday, Sept. 18 during mentor

Terry Fox shared many qualities with Alti students: courage, resilience and a stubborn refusal to quit.  We are proud to participate in a community walk to honor his legacy on Friday, Sept. 18 during mentor. If you are able to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation, you can do so by sending a cash donation with your child on Friday, Sept. 18, or through this link: https://schools.terryfox.ca/AlternativeHighSchool

Students will be walk then have a hot dog and drink back at the school. 

Academic Integrity, Attendance and Wellness contracts

This week our students will be working with their mentors to sign their Academic Integrity, Attendance and Wellness contracts.  Once they are signed, your teen will email you a copy for your information.  Please direct any questions to your mentor.  The students will be storing these documents in D2L.  Parents can login to D2L and see the Activity Feed to keep up to date on paperwork and activities related to mentor.  You can sign in through MyCBE, the same place you can see PowerSchool. 

If you have not created an account for PowerSchool, you can find out how here: https://support.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe. You can see your child's attendance and grades, as well as pay fees and sign up for Parent Teacher conferences in this portal.
